Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I try to go into a book without any pre-conceived notions. However I recently saw a trailer for the movie based on this book. It was gorgeous. Bold as brass. Bizarre and spectacular. Unfortunately that colored my expectations. What I got instead was a book with tons of potential that was terribly ordinary.

I think it was frustrating to read about this huge concept made mostly tepid. I wanted Tim Burton and got Adam Shankman.
