The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy Reichert

This was adorable. Exactly like a cute little romance movie. Seriously – imagine every sweet rom-com you watched from 1993-1997. Add cake.

Lou is a chef at her own restaurant. Al is a restaurant reviewer new to the area. His review impacts her restaurant before they meet. And then they’re spending time together while you wait for the other shoe to drop.

Overall I liked it more than I thought I would. It was foodie. Tons of dinner descriptions – even some recipes at the end. There were a lot of details about Milwaukee and cooking. They made the book move a little slower, but also showed an author who seemed to really care.

So if you’re in the mood for light and fluffy – sweet without being dumb – this is a fun one. Nothing over the top – that goes for both good and bad. Just a simple read about love and food.
