Porn Star by Laurelin Paige

DNF at 17%. Well bless this book’s heart. It gets a dang A for effort. It’s about a relationship btw 2 porn stars, and this little book gives it all to break stereo-types and infuse emotion where you least expect it. Logan is incredibly sweet (maybe a little bit of a sissy – but that’s ok). And i think that Devi is supposed to be smart and sassy. She actually comes across as whiny and self-absorbed, but i think that all of the talk about her and college is supposed to let us know that she’s smart. The book also tries to avoid insta-sex. Logan and Devi try to form a relationship – which isn’t what we expect from a porn star, right? Logan’s voice is nice – he’s funny and open in parts – way overly dramatic in others. Devi is aggravating – she starts the book out upset that her student loans are due – this qualifies as an emergency for her. But it makes one wonder how dumb you have to be to freak out that you have to pay back your LOANS. In any situation where this qualifies as reason for freak out i’m losing respect for someone.
I think in an effort to overcome stereotypes the book really feels like it’s trying way too hard. It was awkward in that way. And i never cared – i didn’t worry about the characters getting together or not getting together or running off to join the circus. And once that happens i’m not wasting any more time on a book.
